GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the leading international certification for organic textiles. It's the gold standard for verifying organic claims on towels and other textiles.
What GOTS Certifies
GOTS covers the entire supply chain:
Fibre: Must be certified organic (95% for "organic" label, 70% for "made with organic")
Processing: No harmful chemicals in dyeing, finishing
Environmental: Wastewater treatment, energy usage requirements
Social: Fair labour conditions throughout supply chain
Why It Matters
"Organic cotton" claims are often unverified. GOTS provides:
- Third-party verification
- Supply chain traceability
- Comprehensive standards (not just farming)
- Annual inspections
Without GOTS or similar certification, organic claims may be marketing rather than fact.
GOTS Levels
GOTS Organic (95%+): At least 95% certified organic fibres
GOTS Made With Organic (70%+): At least 70% certified organic fibres
Products meeting lower thresholds cannot use GOTS certification.
vs Other Certifications

|---|---|
| GOTS | Full supply chain, organic |
