Lint-Free

Fabric that doesn't shed fibres. Linen and microfibre are naturally lint-free. Important for glassware and cleaning.

Lint-free describes fabrics that don't shed fibres during use. Important for applications where fibre residue is problematic.

Naturally Lint-Free Materials

  • Linen: Flat weave, strong fibres
  • Microfibre: Synthetic, no loose fibres
  • Glass cloth: Specially woven for glassware

Terry cloth is NOT lint-free - loops shed fibres, especially when new.

Why It Matters

Lint-free is important for:

  • Glassware: Fibres visible on glasses/mirrors
  • Cleaning: Don't want residue left behind
  • Medical: Sterile environments
  • Technical: Electronics, optics

Lint-Free Towels

True lint-free towels are typically:

  • Linen tea towels
  • Microfibre cleaning cloths
  • Speciality glass cloths

Bath towels are not expected to be lint-free - they're terry cloth, which inherently produces some lint.

Marketing Claims

"Low lint" on bath towels means reduced shedding, not truly lint-free. Some shedding is normal for terry.

  • Lint - What lint-free lacks
  • Linen - Naturally lint-free material
  • Microfibre - Lint-free synthetic
